Here’s a short, interesting article on a way to monitor and improve indoor air quality in your workplace, school, or public building and why UK health and safety say that you should.

HSE on Poor ventilation

Recently the UK HSE – Health and Safety Executive published important guidelines for employers on ventilation and air conditioning to help mitigate Coronavirus in buildings. If you want to maintain a healthy workforce, then you should prioritise these areas for improvement to reduce the risk of aerosol transmission of COVID-19.

According to the HSE, the priority for your risk assessment is to identify areas of your workplace that are usually occupied and poorly ventilated.

Using CO2 Monitors in the Workplace

Although CO2 levels are not a direct measure of exposure to COVID-19, checking levels using a monitor can be a critical tool to help identify poorly ventilated areas and help you to remove the risks.

The Electrex Sensing & Sani Solutions allow the sanitization of environments and surfaces using Ozone and the monitoring of environmental parameters.

The solution can create alerts/alarms via email and interconnect with HVAC systems (also via API, MQTT protocols) optimizing ventilation and their energy consumption.

Specifically for CO2 monitoring, solutions available include both non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) CO2 monitors as well as CO2 Equivalent monitors. Discover more on the NDIR CO2 sensor

Remote Monitoring

It is important to have a permanent monitoring and control system that can interconnect with other systems (HVAC) in the building as instantaneous or ‘snapshot’ CO2 readings can be misleading.

The solutions available from Electrex allow simple management of the environmental conditions and with its devices incorporating built-in web server data that can then be consulted remotely via smartphone, tablet, or PC.
